Carmen Falter explores human feeling and personal expression in her art as a means of understanding her own emotions. As she branches out to experience the world around her, Carmen continues to grow and define herself as an artist.
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Carmen’s love of art was inspired by the illustrations in Dungeons and Dragons books. She later found a beauty in nature that drew her to landscapes, animals, and eventually the complexities of the human form. Her most recent gallery work What It Means To Falter expresses the bittersweet love her family brings as she continues her life journey outside of their immediate comfort.
Through her studies in art at Appalachian State University, Carmen explored new mediums. Now, when she is not teaching her students, she is continues her personal studies through various professional art programs. Her portfolio includes work predominantly in graphite, charcoal, watercolor and digital. She also completes commissioned projects as requested.
