Skin & Bone

Statement

As a young woman, I constantly battle with my changing body as I age and develop. I have always been petite, but my mother does not share my shape. Watching her struggle to cut off inches while I fought to put them on guided me to the idea that we simply want what we don't have. These works center around my constantly changing view of body image. No two figures are ever the same, and there is so much beauty to find in all the different shapes and folds from one body to another. We are constantly compared to one another as if we are objects made by the same artist rather than viewed as an individual. As I continue my search for peace with my own skin and bones, I remember that I am not the only one searching.
